About this beach
Veliki Pijesak Beach is a scenic sandy beach south of Bar, near the settlement of Dobra Voda, notable for its views of the surrounding mountains and striking Adriatic sunsets. A promenade runs behind the beach and is lined with eateries and cafes, making it a pleasant spot for both daytime swimming and evening strolls.
The beach lives up to its name — 'veliki pijesak' means 'big sand' — with an expansive shoreline that offers plenty of room even when it is well attended. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, drawing families, couples and travellers looking to escape the busier beaches further north.
Good to know
Veliki Pijesak is best enjoyed in the late afternoon when the light on the mountains is particularly beautiful. It is around 7 km south of Bar centre along the coastal road. The promenade restaurants are a good option for a meal after a swim.
