Parasol Set

A parasol set — locally known as a suncobran set or parasol s ležaljkama — is the standard commercial unit on most Montenegrin paid beaches: one large beach umbrella paired with two sunbeds. Parasols are typically 2–2.5 metres in diameter, made of UV-resistant polyester or olefin fabric in white or striped colours, mounted on a central aluminium pole with a cross-base buried in the sand or weighted on pebble beaches. The concession operator is legally required to display the daily rental price clearly. Peak-season prices in Montenegro range from €5 at budget municipal beaches to €25–30 per set on premium shoreline in Budva or at beach clubs in Porto Montenegro. On pebble coves such as those along the Petrovac headland, parasol sets are spaced more tightly because the shingle surface makes repositioning straightforward. Many operators offer the first hour free or a discounted morning rate before 10:00 to encourage early occupancy.

Frequently asked questions

What is a parasol set on a Montenegro beach?

A parasol set — sometimes listed as a two-sunbed-and-umbrella set — is a bundled beach hire package consisting of two sunbeds or loungers plus a large shade umbrella (parasol), all positioned together as one unit. It is the standard way to hire beach space for two people at most beach bars along the Montenegrin coast.

The package format makes pricing straightforward: you pay one fee for the group arrangement rather than pricing each item separately. The parasol provides essential shade during the hottest midday hours, which is particularly valuable in July and August when temperatures regularly exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

How much does a two-sunbed parasol set cost at a Montenegrin beach bar?

A standard two-lounger-and-umbrella parasol set on a Montenegro beach typically costs between EUR 15 and EUR 30 per day. The lower end of that range applies at quieter beaches or in the shoulder months of June and September; the upper end is common at popular spots in Budva, Becici, or near Kotor during the July–August peak.

Some beach bars bundle the cost into a minimum food-and-drink spend, so the hire fee is effectively zero once you reach that threshold. If you plan to eat and drink at the bar anyway this can represent excellent value compared to paying separately for two individual sunbeds plus an umbrella.

Can I walk up and get a parasol set or do I need to reserve one in Montenegro?

On most public beaches in Montenegro, parasol sets are available on a walk-up basis — you arrive, find a free spot, and pay the beach attendant when they come by. This is the norm at the majority of beaches outside peak season and early in the morning during July and August.

At well-known beach bars and clubs in Budva or along the Budva Riviera, the best-positioned sets can be taken by reservation before the beach opens in the morning during peak season. If you want a specific front-row or premium location in July or August, messaging the bar via WhatsApp or Instagram the evening before is a reliable way to secure your spot.
