FAQ

Which Montenegro beaches are best for young children and toddlers who need shallow, calm water?

Velika Plaza near Ulcinj is Montenegro's top family beach for young children — its 12-kilometre stretch of fine sand slopes gently into very shallow water, making it ideal for toddlers and non-swimmers. The flatness of the seabed means kids can wade far out without the depth rising quickly, and the sandy bottom is much kinder on small feet than the pebble beaches found elsewhere on the coast.

Becici (near Budva) is another strong family option: a Blue Flag beach with a sand-and-pebble mix, relatively calm water, and plenty of beach bars offering sunbeds and umbrellas. Petrovac is quieter and sheltered by a small bay, so waves are gentle — good if you want a calmer resort atmosphere away from the busy Budva strip.

Practical tip: arrive before 10 am in July and August to secure a shaded lounger and a good position near the waterline, as all three beaches fill up fast in peak season.
